Critical Reflection

At the beginning of this module, my goals were to become more open to other people, learn to communicate myself better, examine critically and grow, and develop my ability to think quickly in response to situations. I mostly succeeded in completing this module's objectives. Being open to others was the one thing I was unable to do because I am introverted around strangers and extroverted among close friends. This module taught me how to better reflect by asking myself questions. What did I do, what was the result, what could I have done differently or more effectively, and what would happen if I did this act are the questions. With the Paul Elder Framework that was introduced in this module, I discovered how to think critically. The Paul Elder Framework directs our attention to the intellectual norms that should be incorporated into reasoning as well as the intellectual characteristics that go along with it. Using this framework enables me to respond to situations more effectively ...

Summary Reader Response Draft 4

The webpage "Rainwater Harvesting 101" from Innovating Water Solutions LLC introduces what is rainwater harvesting is . Rainwater harvesting is the collection of run-off waters from buildings and other possible surfaces for future uses. In the past, rainwater used to be collected in gutters that channel water into storage units. However, rainwater harvesting can be as simple as collecting rainwater in a rain barrel or as complicated as a large cistern to supply an entire household in the modern times. The author believes that although the idea of rainwater harvesting conjures images of old farm cistern, the reality is that many countries are adopting this method because it has proved to be a viable method in supplying water. The author believed that rainwater harvesting is viable in the urban setting due to the convenience of collecting runoff water from roofs and directing it to a water storage tank. Hence, rainwater can help to supply water in a household.  In my opin...

Proposed Solution in Technical Report

The proposed DfMA solution increases time-savings for construction projects of all scales. During the design stage of a project, the project manager would plan the progression of the construction works. Using prefabricated walls can increase time savings as their manufacturing and assembly can be completed in concurrency with site preparations (Figure 7).  In addition, the workers do not need time to make adjustments to the AAC walls for pipings, M&E, and architectural finishes, as allocations for these fittings and finishes would have been accommodated during the design phase and completed during the manufacturing phase. This would allow an expeditious transition from one stage of construction work to another, increasing the time-saving of the project.
